Established in 1978 by the Stonier family in the coastal town of Merricks, Stonier is considered a pre-eminent Mornington Peninsula producer of wines made from some of the region's oldest vines.

The first Chardonnay was planted in 1978 and Pinot Noir in 1982.  The cool maritime climate proved ideal for these early ripening varieties.  The wines were initially made off-site untiil the striking Stonier winery was completed in 1991.  The most recent additions to the range include single vineyard and sparkling wines.
